A repost from Nov. 4, 2005:
Purpose Of This Blog:
PrattTown is a "PlaceBlog" about life and living in Pratt, Kansas USA.
What's a placeblog?
"A placeblog is an act of sustained attention to a particular place over time
It can be done by one person, a defined group of people, or in a way that’s open to community contribution
It’s not a newspaper, though it may contain random acts of journalism
It’s about the lived experience of a place"
If you are interested in becoming a "Columnist" for PrattTown, send an email to the site moderator requesting an invitation to participate.
We need "Columnists" to write about the following elements of rural culture:

* Commerce - businesses, trades, economic development
* Cuisine - restaurants, speciality shops
* Customs - annual events, celebrations, traditions
* Geography - scenic drives, trails
* History - military, oil and gas, agriculture, mainstreet
* People - individuals, families, genealogy

This is such an excellent idea! If I lived in Pratt or knew anything about Pratt, I'd love to contribute. Since I don't, I'll just visit and enjoy what others have to share. I am thinking about starting a blog for Douglass, though. I just don't know if there would be enough interest, and being a newcomer, I don't know if I'd have much to contribute at first. I suppose starting a blog would be one way to learn.
Thanks for the comment Jenni. Your Prairie Air blog( http://prairieair.blogspot.com/ ) has excellent stories and photos, and I enjoy reading about your life and times in rural Kansas.
I would like to see you try a "group blog" for Douglas. Many moons ago I worked for Kelly Carter who lived in Douglas and later for Jim Walton who is from Rose Hill.
Whoops. I meant "Douglass" not "Douglas" of course...
